5 England players who got injured this weekend – and who could replace them

#2. Lewis Ludlam (Northampton Saints) – Hip

The flanker suffered a hip injury during their defeat to Bath.

‘Lewis has got a hip pointer, quite a bad one I think, but nothing structurally upset, that’s my medical version,’ said Northampton coach Phil Dowson.

Dowson also confirmed that forward Courtney Lawes suffered a significant setback.

He did a full day’s training on Tuesday, and he had some symptoms,’ said Dowson.

‘We are just looking after him and he goes back through the protocol whatever that system is to make sure. I saw him on the bike yesterday, and he said he felt fine.

‘He’ll continue to do weights, cycle, and do all those bits. We’ll slowly integrate him back into contact as and when he’s available and ready.

‘It’s probably too early to tell because it’s a day-by-day thing so he goes through that process. If he feels good, he goes to the next one, and to the next one depending on how he goes.

‘I think he will probably see a specialist before now and then anyway.’

Replacement: Ruan Ackermann (Gloucester)
