3. Chris Harris (Scotland) – Architectural Technician

As part of his university course, Harris was required to do a few days work experience with a construction firm. At Story Homes, he was taken through each role of the various technicians, gaining a better insight to what was involved. However, instead of pursuing a career in Architecture, he was offered a professional contract by Newcastle Falcons aged 21.

4. Joe Launchbury (England) – Supermarket

After being released by Harlequins aged 18, the future England second-row ended up getting a job in the local Sainsbury’s to ensure he could continue his rugby career with National 2 North side Worthing. He worked in the bakery section and says it was a ‘good grounding’ for him and made him appreciate what hard work is
