BREAKING: Scotland overtake England in the World Rankings

Scotland has risen above England to occupy the fifth position in the World Rugby Men’s Rankings after securing a 29-23 victory at Twickenham on Saturday.

On a historic weekend in which all three away teams won, Scotland received 1.51 points and their rating is 83.06. England fell to sixth place with 82.15 points, and Australia dropped to seventh place, replacing Scotland.

Ireland lead the rankings by a small margin, increasing their lead over France by 0.07 points with their 34-10 victory over Wales in Cardiff, bringing their rating to 90.70.

France beat Italy 29-24 in Rome, but didn’t gain additional points. Wales remained in ninth place, 0.63 points ahead of Japan in 10th, despite their defeat.

With all four of the higher-ranked teams in the Rugby Europe Championship winning as expected, there were no further changes to the rankings.

Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifiers Georgia, Portugal and Romania remain in 13th, 18th, and 20th following emphatic wins over Germany (75-12), Belgium (54-17) and Poland (67-27), respectively.

Spain, ranked 16th, were pushed closer than many people thought they would be by the Netherlands in Madrid, but they had enough points in reserve to withstand a second-half comeback from the Dutch and win 28-20.
