BREAKING: Super Rugby introduced ‘Fan-Centric Law Innovations’ to be ‘Faster than Ever Before’

Super Rugby have announced that they will be introducing a series of ‘fan-centric law innovations’ to make the game faster, and more appealing to the audience. Super Rugby put out a statement on their official social media channels which read:

“Time restrictions on goal kicks, set pieces and rucks, and a streamlined TMO process are among a raft of fan-centric law innovations set to make Super Rugby Pacific rugby faster and more fluid than ever before”

Super Rugby is already regarded as one of the most entertaining rugby competitions in the world, and these changes are expecting to solidify this. Super Rugby Pacific Tournament Director Matt Barlow said in a recent statement:

“We want Super Rugby Pacific to be the most entertaining, innovative and fastest professional rugby competition in the world. We’ve listened to our fans and taken steps to reduce stoppages and video replays, increase flow and maintain the integrity of the competition and the safety of players in regard to yellow and red cards.”

“Players, coaches and referees are excited about these innovations, and we believe they will create a better fan experience both at game and for those watching on television.”

The 2023 Super Rugby Pacific competition gets underway on the 24th February, with the Crusaders hosting their New Zealand rivals Chiefs in Christchurch. Last years winners of the inaugural Super Rugby Pacific competition, the Crusaders won their 11th Super Rugby title, after a 21-7 victory over the Auckland Blues in the final.

Last season saw the additions of Moana Pasifika and the Fijian Drua into Super Rugby, with the Pacific Island focussed sides included to build the presence of domestic rugby in the region. It is lining up to be another exciting Super Rugby season, and could be the most entertaining one yet with the new law variations.
