The uproar erupted online when England captain Jamie George was injured at Eden Park at the weekend and was tended to by a female physiotherapist.

In a misguided attempt at humour, the ACC team crudely implied that the physio performed a sex act on George.

The offensive clip was shared on the ACC’s social media channels post-game with the headline: ‘Forget the magic water, how about the magic hand***!’.

The post was swiftly deleted, but not before it drew harsh criticism from rugby fans across Facebook and Instagram.

Womenzsport, dedicated to women’s sports content, condemned the ‘handjob’ jibe as unacceptable.

They said: “It is just so disappointing that women can’t do their jobs, live their lives, go about their days without being sexualised,’ a comment read. ‘It has to stop. And it will only stop when other men start calling out this disgusting behaviour. Being silent is being complicit.”

Mike Lane, General Manager at The ACC, later issued a statement: “We’ve missed the mark on this occasion, and we have removed the social media posts. We apologise to anyone who was offended by the content – it definitely wasn’t our intention to cause any offence.”

The Telegraph ranked England’s five worst players this summer, shock name features

The form of Maro Itoje, Marcus Smith, and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso stood out, but below we look at the most disappointing players according to The Telegraph, highlighting some sub-par performances.

Theo Dan 5/10

Saracens hooker Theo Dan is capped at England U18 and U20 level. He graduated into the north London club’s senior academy in 2019 and made his Premiership debut against Gloucester in 2022.

Since then, he has been a regular feature in Saracens teams throughout their domestic and European campaigns and was a member of the team that won the Gallagher Premiership title at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Dan was called up to Steve Borthwick’s squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France and featured heavily in the squad that went on to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

They wrote: “Needs to learn a better tackle technique after suffering a head injury in the second Test.”
