The stadium’s rebranding comes as part of a new sponsorship deal, with the name change taking effect from September.

Mitchell’s Red Roses side will face reigning world champions New Zealand today in the first match at the newly named Allianz Stadium.

However, as the Red Roses take on the Black Ferns, there have already been a few slip-ups from commentators adjusting to the new name.

One fan commented: “No matter how hard they try, the commentators keep calling it Twickenham. It always will be.”

Another wrote: “BBC commentators seem to be ignoring the Allianz Stadium name. Fair play to them.”

A third added: “Slip of the tongue from the commentator. It will always be Twickenham to me.”
