3. “Attracting a new family audience” – World Rugby alter facilities to cater for women and children
SARAH MASSEY: “There’s a huge amount of work going on. What’s brilliant is we’re able to take all of the learnings, we’ve worked really closely with the RFU, in terms of the demographics that have been watching women’s rugby over the last year, seeing that grow. Absolutely, it’s thinking about women’s toilets, maybe it’s more coffee and pastries not beer, it’s still thinking about access for prams and strollers and other accessibility needs that we may need for attracting a new family audience.
“So there is a lot of work going into that because we want to make sure that that’s not a surprise, that we know who our audiences, and that we’re providing all the facilities to make sure that they’re having an amazing experience when they go to any of our venues.”
4. The price: tickets start from £5 and peak at £95 for Women’s Rugby World Cup Final
The launch event also answered any pre-existing questions regarding tickets, with the high and low-end costs confirmed for the tournament. The lowest level of entry is £5 for children (under 16s), and a family of four – two adults and two children – will be able to buy a compiled group ticket with the opening match offering this at just £30 at the Stadium of Light.
PAUL LEMON: “So 60% of all tickets, all of those 400,000 Tickets will be available at £25 or below, we’re going to have a wide range of prices that appeal to all kinds of budgets and different segments. So ranging from £5 entry price for children’s tickets up to £95 for a top price ticket to the final. Children’s prices in every single match across multiple categories.
“A family of four can attend the opening match in Sunderland, so two adults and two children can attend the opening match from just £30. That’s something we’re really proud of, we’re really keen to maintain through the program. It proceeds to be the family event of the year.
And that’s something that’s been a key focus of ours across across this kind of strategy.
“Wheelchair spaces we priced at the lowest category and for each match day. And there’ll be a companion seat, there’ll be automatically allocated, free of charge to all wheelchair users.”
