“First Match in Wales” – Premiership Rugby Confirm Fixtures for 2024/25 Season

The fixtures have been confirmed for the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership Rugby season, with the action coming back with a bang right from the first round. The opening weekend of matches sees the league kick off at Bath’s Recreation Ground, with the Somerset club taking on reigning champions Northampton Saints, in a rematch of the 2023/24 Final.

104 days since Saints won the title in front of a sold-out Twickenham the two heavyweights will face-off once again, as Fin Smith and Finn Russell go tee-to-tee on Friday, September 20 (7.45pm KO). The heat is then turned up even more in the new campaign thanks to ‘Double Derby Weekends’ for the Premiership fans.

Premiership Rugby is also taking over Cardiff for Bristol Bears ‘Big Day Out’ fixture against West Country Rivals Bath, at the Principality Stadium. The spotlight will be on the home of Welsh rugby, for what is the Premiership’s first ever game in Wales.

And for the first time, this season will see every Gallagher Premiership Rugby match broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+. This comes following a season of growth which saw TNT Sports audiences for Premiership Rugby rise by 8% and a record-breaking free-to-air audience share on ITV, for the 2023/24 Premiership Rugby Final at Twickenham.

Following a record-breaking Derby Weekend in 2023/24, which attracted season-high attendances and over 1.1 million viewers on UK screens, grudge matches are back in Round 4. Then a reverse round of intense Derby fixtures returns in Round 12 to settle scores.

Harlequins’ iconic festive Big Game is back for its sixteenth edition, with Leicester Tigers the opposition for a Round 9 thriller at Twickenham. Saracens will also host their London rivals Harlequins in Round 12, with ‘The Showdown 5’ headlining a blockbuster second Derby Weekend, as Premiership Rugby supporters descend on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium once again.

The final two marquee matches come in Round 16. Harlequins return to Twickenham for the ‘Big Summer Kick-Off’ to face Gloucester Rugby, before Bristol Bears’ ‘Big Day Out’ in the Welsh capital’s iconic 74,500-seater stadium makes its debut.

Once again, all clubs and their supporters will benefit from a home fixture in one of the opening two rounds, in one of the two festive fixtures (Round 9 & 10) and in one of the final two rounds of the Gallagher Premiership Rugby season.
