Police said a woman’s body was found in the Hound Point area of South Queensferry on Saturday afternoon.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but the Hastings family has been informed.

Jenny, 60, disappeared in the waters off Wardie Bay on Tuesday. The search for her was called off after 8pm when no trace was found.

Her heartbroken family said she is now presumed dead. “She loved the water but unfortunately her mind was not in a place of safety,” they said.

“The Hastings family are absolutely heartbroken. We miss our Jenny. She leaves a gaping hole in all our hearts and hope that she is returned to us safely so that we can celebrate her remarkable life.”

Former England rugby player Brian Moore expressed his sorrow during the search, writing: “This is so painfully sad for all concerned. Words are simply inadequate on occasions like this.”
