James Haskell Compares Upcoming Premiership Final to “Dodgeball” Movie

Former England international James Haskell has given an entertaining take on the upcoming Gallagher Premiership Final, by comparing the rivalry of Saracens and Sale Sharks to the iconic underdog movie ‘Dodgeball’.

Speaking on the fan favourite ‘The Good, the Bad and the Rugby’ Podcast, Haskell discusses the similarities between the Saracens and Sale clash, and the feel-good movie. Alongside 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall, and renowned rugby journalist Alex Payne, Haskell provides an interesting comparison between the match and the film.

The former Wasps back-rower compares Saracens with the revered Globo Gym, who in the movie were unbeatable on the dodgeball court. Haskell continued to draw comparisons with Sarries’ Head Coach Mark McCall, in how his role as leader of the favourited side, resembles Ben Stiller’s character of Dwight Goodman.

Haskell then likens Sale Sharks with the Average Joes, the ultimate underdogs who defy the odds to win. Putting the joking to one side, ‘Hask’ commented on the genius coaching ability that Sale Head Coach Alex Sanderson possess. The Sharks are perceived underdogs by the former England star, but will the upcoming Premiership final play out with a Sale win, in tune with Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story?
