Sinfield, who had previously expressed his intention to leave following England’s summer tour, is still considering his future as other offers come in.

Borthwick’s coaching team has been significantly impacted, with defence coach Felix Jones departing and strength and conditioning head Aled Walters moving to Ireland. Fitness coach Tom Tombleson has also stepped down from his role with the RFU.

Jones, who took over Sinfield’s former position before the Six Nations, unexpectedly resigned, leaving ongoing discussions about his departure. According to The Telegraph, the RFU has increased efforts to secure Sinfield’s long-term commitment, with his current contract expiring in November.

The 43-year-old rugby league legend initially joined Borthwick’s team from Leicester Tigers in December 2022 and had planned to leave after England’s summer Tests in Japan and New Zealand.
