Bonjour! The 2024 Paris Olympic Games gets underway today, with Rugby Sevens at the heart of the action to kick off the celebration of sport. The first pool stage matches of the men’s tournament kick off from 14:30 UK time today, as Australia take on the Pacific Islanders of Samoa.
Also in action today is Antoine Dupont, as the French scrum half commences his Olympic dream after swapping rugby union for sevens earlier this year. The Toulouse captain will be eyeing up a home-turf gold medal, as France enter the tournament on a wave of momentum following their HSBC SVNS Grand Final triumph. France take on the USA at 15:30 today.
Also, the two-time Olympic champions take to the Stade de France, as Fiji begin their quest for an unprecedented third gold medal from the games. The reigning gold medallists from both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021, the Flying Fijians are in action against Uruguay at 16:00.
