“Played 10 minutes” – Four biggest Premiership transfer flops this season

#2. Aaron Hinkley (Exeter to Northampton Saints)

While his performance for Saints didn’t necessarily label him as a ‘flop,’ the transfer didn’t pan out as anticipated, as the former England U20 star left the club by mutual agreement last month.

His shock departure was confirmed with a single paragraph at the end of the press release about Alex Waller’s new contract.

Saints’ statement read: “Northampton Saints can confirm that Aaron Hinkley has left the Club by mutual consent. The back row forward arrived at cinch stadium at Franklin’s Gardens at the end of the 21/22 season, making 19 appearances in Black, Green and Gold.”

Speculation online suggests the 23-year-old has fallen out with the Saints staff.

Reacting to the news, one fan wrote: “What the actual f*ck??? Been immense when he’s played… some weird goings on at the club currently and doesn’t bode well!”
