Ryan Reynolds Supports My Name’s Doddie Cycle Ride with Emotional Message

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds shared a supportive message to the My Name’s Doddie Foundation, who are completing a 555 mile cycle ride to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease research. The ride takes place in the last week of Doddie Aid, which this year collectively aims to raise over £500,000 for MND research.

The cyclists have 48 hours to complete the memorial ride, and will finish their journey at Edinburgh’s BT Murrayfield Stadium. The team will be delivering the match ball ahead of kick-off, for Scotland vs Wales in the Six Nations. Reynolds wished his support to the team of former rugby players, Olympians and fundraisers for their journey.

“I just want to wish you guys all the best. Go get them and what an incredible cause, and such a wonderful thing that you’re all doing.”

There are many famous faces tackling the cycle ride, including several of Doddie Wier’s former teammates from the 1997 British and Irish Lions. Tim Stimpson, Jeremy Davidson and Paul Wallace are all getting on their bikes, to raise money for the brilliant foundation. Former Scotland and England internationals Carl Hogg and Dean Ryan have also joined the group, along with record-breaking endurance cyclist Mark Beaumont and Team GB’s six-time gold medallist Olympian Sir Chris Hoy.

The Deadpool star, is also a Co-owner of National League football club Wrexham AFC. The North Wales side play their football at the Racecourse Ground, which is one of the stops along the enormous cycle route. Reynolds said in his message; “I hear that you might stop off at the Racecourse Ground so enjoy it. It’s a pretty magical place and best of luck to each and every one of you.”
