Saracens set to lose five key players this summer, it’s the end of an era

#2. Owen Farrell

Saracens captain, England captain. Fly half Owen Farrell has been one of the best players in the world for the last decade. An instrumental player for both club and country, Owen Farrell has continually impressed the rugby world with his goal-kicking and game management.

Owen continues to lead from the front, with over 100 caps for his country and 200 for Saracens, having made his breakthrough in the 2010/11 season, where he helped spearhead Saracens to their first Premiership title, with victory over Leicester Tigers at Twickenham.

Farrell might join forces with former England head coach Stuart Lancaster at Racing.

While the club has issued a statement refuting any finalized deal, they haven’t dismissed their interest in Farrell or the possibility of ongoing discussions.

As England’s men’s team seeks a prominent figure at fly-half following Finn Russell’s departure to Bath last summer, Lancaster’s squad is reportedly considering Farrell for the role.

Despite talks with England and Harlequins playmaker Marcus Smith, who ultimately decided to stay with Quins, Racing continues to explore options to bolster their lineup.

Notably, Owen Farrell, who has left a lasting impact on England, has spent the majority of his career with Saracens, aside from a brief four-game loan stint with Bedford Blues. His potential move to Racing could mark a significant chapter in his accomplished career.
