Ron Cribb is a former New Zealand rugby union player, best known for his powerful performances as a number eight. He earned 15 caps for the All Blacks between 2000 and 2001 and also played for Super Rugby sides the Blues and Crusaders.

Helena Jade Cribb, 22, appeared in North Shore District Court, charged with causing the death of Jason Collins, who was found on O’Brien Road, Lucas Heights, north of Auckland, in December 2023.

Cribb, who works in advertising, turned herself in to police in April after learning about Collins’ death. On Thursday, she pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle carelessly and causing his death, according to local reports.

Her lawyer, Adam Holland, said Cribb was highly intoxicated, slurring her words, and aggressive at a Christmas party the night of the crash.

A colleague had arranged an Uber to take her to her car in Auckland’s CBD, where she had promised to sleep and charge her phone, not drive. Cribb will be sentenced in December.
