Statement: France star handed six month ban and huge fine

France full-back Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended for 34 weeks and fined 30,000 euros (£25,335) by the French Rugby Federation (FFR) after posting a racist video on social media.

During France’s summer tour of Argentina earlier this month, the 25-year-old shared a video containing a racist comment directed at the Arab community.

The FFR stated that Jaminet had “harmed the best interests of rugby.” However, the Toulouse full-back can reduce his ban by eight weeks if he participates in anti-discrimination activities to “promote the values of sport.”

Completing these activities would allow Jaminet to be available for selection before the start of the 2025 Six Nations.

Jaminet, who was sent home from the tour, expressed his remorse, saying he is “deeply sorry and ashamed of my comments.”

On Instagram, he added, “Racism, in all its forms, is unacceptable and goes against everything I believe in. I understand the FFR’s punishment and remain at their disposal to help address this incident.”

England set to play Wales at expanded 2027 Rugby World Cup

During the draw, the 24 participating teams will be divided into six pools, each consisting of four teams. Notably, this draw will transpire before the regional qualifiers have concluded, resulting in a dual-world approach.

On one side, we have the twelve automatic qualifiers from the 2023 Rugby World Cup, confirmed by their names. On the other side, the regional qualifiers will be represented as Africa 1, Europe 1, Europe 2, and so forth.

Rugby World Cup 2027 is set to be hosted in Australia, marking the eleventh edition of the Men’s Rugby World Cup and the third time it will take place in Australia. The country previously co-hosted the inaugural Rugby World Cup with New Zealand in 1987 and served as the sole host in 2003.

With the current World Rankings in mind, let’s delve into how the 2027 Rugby World Cup will shape up via Rugby Centre.
