STATEMENT: Kurtley Beale ARRESTED

Kurtley Beale, a veteran player for the Wallabies who formerly played for Wasps, has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi last year.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that a 28-year-old individual had reported the incident, which took place on December 17th of last year, as part of an ongoing investigation.

Beale was arrested and taken into custody after being stopped at a vehicle stop. He has been taken to Waverly police station.

Beale had recently returned to the Waratahs set-up and was hoping to secure a spot on the team for the World Cup in France later this year.

He was recently named in the Wallabies training squad for the World Cup. However, his arrest puts those plans in jeopardy.

Beale is the second rugby union player this week to face legal trouble, as Rufus McLean of Glasgow Warriors pleaded guilty to domestic abuse charges.
