Statement: Worcester Warriors set to return next season

Worcester Warriors’ journey back to professional rugby has taken a significant stride forward, as the club has been formally invited by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to consider applying for a spot in the Championship, the second tier of English rugby.

The Warriors, who went into administration in 2022, have until 13 October to submit their application. Club owner Christopher Holland confirmed, “The Warriors will be submitting their expression of interest next week.”

If successful, Worcester could be back in the Championship for the 2025-26 season, marking a key milestone in their comeback.

Holland reiterated his dedication to returning the Warriors to the professional game, with plans announced last week to redevelop their former Sixways home, featuring a hotel, solar farm, and medical centre.

Currently, Sixways hosts only football, with non-league Worcester Raiders and Worcester City Women calling it home. In recent months, a new logo and website have been launched, and a significant investment has been made to refurbish the eight-year-old artificial pitch.

Holland, who also owns Wasps – another club that went out of business in the same season – has been linked with moving them to Kent.
