With England’s depth of talent, several selection dilemmas loom large. Here are three of the most significant.

#1. Ben Spencer or Harry Randall?

With Alex Mitchell likely ruled out with a neck injury, Borthwick has a tricky decision between the experienced Ben Spencer and the dynamic Harry Randall at scrum-half.

Bath captain Spencer, with his tactical awareness and superior game management, offers control and consistency. His crisp distribution and kicking game make him a safer bet, particularly in tight games.

On the other hand, Randall brings electrifying pace and creativity to the breakdown, thriving in open play. His high tempo can disrupt defences, but he sometimes lacks the calm needed in high-pressure scenarios. Borthwick must weigh the need for control versus the desire for attacking flair.

Verdict: Ben Spencer
