Hogg recently breached a court order by sending “unpleasant” text messages to his estranged wife, Gillian. The 32-year-old, however, avoided jail after being granted bail to travel to France and join his new club Montpellier later this month.

Hogg spent a night in police custody before appearing at Jedburgh Sheriff Court, where he pled guilty to repeatedly contacting his wife. His sentencing was deferred pending the outcome of a domestic abuse trial later this month, which includes charges of stalking and controlling behaviour over a seven-year period.

Sheriff James McCarron, citing Hogg’s lack of previous convictions, decided to release him on bail. The sheriff warned Hogg that any repetition of his behaviour would make future bail unlikely.

Hogg snaps back at fan:

Hogg recently made headlines on social media platform X, responding to a remark by popular Scottish rugby influencer Graham Love.

Hogg, who has faced significant media scrutiny over the past year, held the title of Scotland’s record try-scorer until the weekend when Duhan van der Merwe surpassed him with a try against Uruguay.

Hogg is set to stand trial in September for alleged domestic abuse. The 32-year-old rugby star denies accusations of causing his wife, Gillian Hogg, “fear and alarm” over a seven-year period from 2017 to 2024, as well as allegations of breaching a court order that prohibited contact with her.

It is important to note that Hogg denies all charges.

Graham Love, known for his stop-motion animations including the acclaimed “Scottish Hype Train” series, which humorously captures the annual ups and downs of Scotland’s Six Nations campaign, wrote on X: “It’s nice to have a leading try scorer we can be proud of again.”

Hogg unexpectedly fired back: “Quick to forget. Embarrassing. You know nothing about me or my life. Just keep reading the papers & adding to the nonsense.”

Montpellier confirmed the signing of Hogg last month after, club president Mohed Altrad confirmed the deal during a press briefing on June 18 regarding next season’s coaching arrangements.

The 32-year-old full-back has signed a two-year contract with an option for an additional year, potentially extending his career past his 35th birthday, according to Altrad.

When questioned about the length of Hogg’s contract, Altrad said, “I think it’s three years – two years, plus one, it seems to me.”

England set to play Wales at expanded 2027 Rugby World Cup

During the draw, the 24 participating teams will be divided into six pools, each consisting of four teams. Notably, this draw will transpire before the regional qualifiers have concluded, resulting in a dual-world approach.

On one side, we have the twelve automatic qualifiers from the 2023 Rugby World Cup, confirmed by their names. On the other side, the regional qualifiers will be represented as Africa 1, Europe 1, Europe 2, and so forth.

Rugby World Cup 2027 is set to be hosted in Australia, marking the eleventh edition of the Men’s Rugby World Cup and the third time it will take place in Australia. The country previously co-hosted the inaugural Rugby World Cup with New Zealand in 1987 and served as the sole host in 2003.

With the current World Rankings in mind, let’s delve into how the 2027 Rugby World Cup will shape up via Rugby Centre.
