The RFU have taken action after yet another England coach quits, they mean business

Ireland, South Africa, and other interested teams might have to wait a year to secure England’s defence coach Felix Jones, as the RFU is reportedly set to enforce his one-year notice period following his unexpected resignation earlier this weekend.

Jones is the latest member of Steve Borthwick’s coaching team to resign, following the departure of Aled Walters, the highly regarded strength and conditioning coach, who left to join Andy Farrell’s Ireland staff.

Jones, who took over as defence coach from Kevin Sinfield after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, was initially hailed as an excellent hire.

However, his tenure has ended abruptly amid reports of dissatisfaction with the “unstable working environment” within the England camp, according to The Times.

According to Rugby Pass, the RFU, still reeling from Jones’s decision to leave after just seven months, intends to take a firm stance and make him serve out his full notice period, potentially blocking any immediate offers from other teams.
