“Times up” – England boss Steve Borthwick urged to drop three regulars for in-form stars

England head coach Steve Borthwick has received suggestions to replace three of his regular stars with a talented trio from the in-form Gallagher Premiership.

The upcoming 2023 Rugby World Cup, commencing in September, has sparked a heated discussion regarding the composition of England’s squad, with fans and pundits expressing their opinions.

There are now growing calls to consider in-form Premiership players for three positions that are currently occupied by regular starters.

#1. Val Rapava-Ruskin (Gloucester) for Mako Vunipola

Despite their undeniable talent, certain players never quite secure a regular spot on the international stage for reasons unknown. Such is the case with Rapava-Ruskin.

In the past, concerns were raised regarding his work rate and penalty count. However, it has become increasingly evident to everyone that his remarkable strength, combined with his ability to dominate the breakdown, sets him apart.

Nevertheless, competition in his position is fierce, and the return of the fully recovered Beno Obano at Bath has only heightened Steve Borthwick’s options for loosehead prop.

As a result, Mako Vunipola, who has struggled with form this season, find himself under pressure to retain his place in the World Cup squad.
