3. Damian Penaud v Ireland

A first half score which sent shockwaves through the Aviva Stadium, Damian Peanaud showcased his naturally gifted pace and stamina, to start and finish a fantastic breakaway try. The French winger picked up the bouncing loose ball inside his own 22m, and started up the turbos as he broke at pace towards Ireland. A sharp cut inside on the turned back of Andrew Porter set the Clermont star into open space, before he shipped the ball inside to Anthony Jelonch.

Penaud was slightly halted off the ball by Tadhg Beirne, but was able to catch up with Jelonch, who strode up the field and fended off Johnny Sexton. The flanker collided into James Lowe, but returned the ball to Penaud just in time for him to run behind Mack Hansen, and charge for the try-line. Hansen and Conor Murray’s double tackle attempt failed to slow the 26-year-old, who showcased superb pace to score.
