World Rugby confirms broadcaster for 2025 Rugby World Cup

BBC Sport has secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Key matches will air on the BBC’s traditional TV channels, while every game will be streamed live on BBC iPlayer, as well as on the BBC Sport website and app.

Radio coverage will be provided by BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra throughout the tournament, which kicks off on 22 August.

The opening match will take place at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, with the final scheduled for 27 September at Twickenham.

Hosts England are among the 10 teams already qualified for the World Cup. Ireland secured their spot by finishing third in the Women’s Six Nations, while Scotland and Wales are expected to qualify through the WXV tournament, which will also be broadcast by the BBC.

“Next summer is set to be a huge moment for women’s sport and following coverage of WXV and the Women’s Six Nations on the BBC we’re proud to bring audiences exclusive coverage of Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 hosted in England,” said Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC director of sport.

“Big sporting moments have a unique ability to unify bringing people together and never more so when international competitions play out on home soil. And we cannot wait.”
